Battle Honours

Being Those Rare & Particular Recognitions for Actions Above & Beyond the Call of Duty

Battle Honours are special Ribbons consisting of three bars, issued for particularly fine performances, said performance needing to be witnessed by at least one officer/NCO/Nurse, preferably more, or be caught on daguerreotype or celluloid.  The more outrageously theatrical the better, although pure ham-acting is less likely to attract positive attention.  As described above these are battle “honours” and should be treated as such.  After all, they are never awarded casually, no matter how much importuneous begging, pleading or cajoling may occur.

These Ribbons may be awarded for Campaign Battles, non-Campaign battles or special events and, as such, are appended to the medal-board immediately following the battle or event they were awarded for or immediately following the Campaign Ribbon prior to the non-campaign battle or event.

At the time of writing, the Regiment recognises and awards eight distinct Battle Honours, some for both Chaps and Nurses, others limited to one or the other branch of the Regiment's Service strength:

For Valour Honour Colours: Blue, White & Red

The seniormost Battle Honour, awarded for acts of extreme battlefield bravery, and is always appended before any other Honours awarded for that battle.
Available to both Chaps and Nurses.

Victoria Disc: On achieving a fifth Valour, the recipient is awarded the coveted Victoria Disc or VD in silver, reissued in gold if they achieve their 25th such honour.

Honourable Order of the Imperial Air Farce Honour Colours: Blue, White & Blue

Awarded for particularly fine examples of the aerialist's art, as it specifically relates to the prosecution of a performance.  Usually awarded to each member of the aircrew involved.
Available to Chaps only.

Pilot's Wings: On achieving a fifth Air Farce, the recipient is awarded their Pilot's Wings in silver, reissued in gold if they achieve their 25th such honour.

Honourable Order of the Imperial Marines Honour Colours: Red, White & Red

Awarded for particularly fine individual examples of waterborne or maritime combat, as it specifically relates to the prosecution of a performance.
Available to Chaps only.

Imperial Anchor: On achieving a fifth Marine, the recipient is awarded the Imperial Anchor in silver, reissued in gold if they achieve their 25th such honour.

Honourable Order of the Bandage Honour Colours: White, Blue, White

Awarded for for service in 25 non-campaign engagements.
Available to Nurses only.

Nurse's Knot: On achieving a fifth Bandage, the recipient is awarded the Nurse's Knot in silver, reissued in gold if they achieve their 25th such honour.

Honourable Order of the Po Honour Colours: White, Blue, Khaki

Awarded for service in 25 Campaign engagements.
Available to Nurses only.

Dispenser's Bottle: On achieving a fifth Po, the recipient is awarded the Dispenser's Bottle in silver, reissued in gold if they achieve their 25th such honour.

Honourable Order of the Lamp Honour Colours: Gold, Blue, Gold

Awarded for service in 50 engagements.
Available to Nurses only.

Eternal Flame: On achieving a fifth Lamp, the recipient is awarded the Eternal Flame in silver, reissued in gold if they achieve their 25th such honour.

Honourable Order of the Thespian Honour Colours: Blue, Black & White

Awarded for particularly fine individual examples of extreme theatricality arising during the course of a performance, whether or not they played a specific part in the prosecution of said.
Available to both Chaps and Nurses.

Valiant Order of the Purple Bruise Honour Colours: Purple, Green & Yellow

The juniormost Battle Honour, awarded to individuals who received genuine injuries during the course of a battle, significant enough to at least temporarily incapacitate them.  It is always appended after every other Honour awarded for that battle.
Available to both Chaps and Nurses.

   To this highly select group of awards is added a singular non-combat honour, rarely issued, but highly valued by recipients none-the-less:

Order of the Royal Honour Guard Honour Colours: Purple & Purple

A special honour awarded for those who attend functions where they are clearly observed by members of the reigning Royal Family.
Available to both Chaps and Nurses.

Imperial Guard: On achieving a fifth Honour Guard, the recipient is awarded the Imperial Guard in silver, reissued in gold if they achieve their 25th such honour.
